2004 Hockey Outing

The GLBT Alumni Society joined with the 1809 Lambda Alumni Society from Miami University to cheer on our teams at a hockey game in early January.

Chicago Trip

The Society took its first "On the Road with the Buckeyes" trip in early January 2004. Members from throughout the Midwest gathered in Chicago to cheer on the Men's gymnastics team in the Windy City Invitational and the Women's basketball team as they took on Northwestern.

Exclusive member event

One of the events that was open only to paid members during the 2003-2004 tear was a private reception with Wilson Cruz. Cruz portrayed the first out gay teenager on television in the series "My So Called Life." Cruz visited the university as part of the President and Provost's Diversity Lecture Series.

2003 Annual Meeting

The society held the official kick off event for Columbus Pride Weekend and our annual meeting. The cocktail reception at the Crowne Plaza has become one of the premier events of Pride.

Bowling Outing with Students

The society and members of Fusion and other campus GLBT student groups socializes at Mr. Bill's Bowling. This is one of the many events that are sponsored each year by the society to benefit students.

Network Columbus

Network Columbus is the GLBT CHamber of Commerce for Central Ohio. Network meets monthly for drinks and appetizers. Normally sponsored by a business, the GLBT Alumni Society joined with the OSU Alumni Association in sponsoring the event. Associate Provost Carole Anderson addressed the group and shared information about the University's Diversity Plan and Academic Plan.

Outstanding Alumni Society Presentation

In October 2003, the University and the OSU Alumni Association named the GLBT Alumni Society the "Outstanding Alumni Society" at a ceremonyy attended by representatives of the other 280 societies and clubs from across the country.

2003 Scholarship

Beginning in 2003, the GLBT Alumni Society began awarding a total of 6 scholarships including the Eric Kohring-PFLAG Scholarship and 5 Harold "Marc" McIntosh Scholarships.

The society hosts an annual reception at the Longaberger Alumni House for recipients and their families.

2003 Rainbow Graduation

Each year, the GLBT Alumni Society partners with the Office of GLBT Student Services in hosting a spring picnic. Part of the picnic includes the annual "Rainbow Graduation" ceremony where graduating seniors and graduate students from the GLBT community are recognized and presented with an Alumni Society membership and a rainbow colored tassel that can be worn at graduation.

2003 Pep Rally

The society gathered at Union Station for its annual pep rally.

2003 Tailgate Party

Over 150 members and friends joined the society for its annual tailgate party. Members were eligible to purchase tickets to the OSU vs Bowling Green game later that day.

The society was joined by the Capital Pride Band.

2002 Pep Rally

Our annual pep rally at Union Station helped raise over $1,500 towards GLBT Scholarships.

2002 Scholarship

For a number of years, the GLBT Alumni Society has had a partnership with PFLAG Columbus in offering the Eric Kohring-PFLAG Scholarship. The 2002 recipient was Patience Whitworth from California.
