Donations to the Alumni Society both support the organization and are an important statement to the University and the state about the importance of the GLBT community. From our earliest days as a society, we have been able to leverage our voice with the University through dollars.

In our first year of existence we set a record for the largest gift to an Ohio college or university for GLBT programs. Within a month, we broke our own record and have continued to develop a large base of funds.

Programming and General Support

Through the support of the GLBT community and our friends, the OSU GLBT Alumni Society continues to promote the interests of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender alumni of the Ohio State University as well as enhance the quality of life and education for current students. Friends and members of our organization can take pride in knowing that their support is making a difference in the lives of many people. The GLBT alumni society of The Ohio State University values your support and would like to express our gratitude. Thank you for your help and support!

The Society offers diverse opportunities that enrich the university and our community, from professional development among alumni, students, faculty, staff and friends to advocating for equality. Each year, the society sponsors a number of programs for students including social events and our largest student event each year, Rainbow Graduation, which recognizes GLBT graduates. These programs are made possible because of you, our friends and members. When considering a donation, remember that your involvement strengthens the Society’s ability to serve and educate! Your support provides critical assistance to the Society and makes our community more visible!

Please make a donation to support Society programming and outreach to students and the community.

Scholarship Support

First and foremost in our fundraising efforts has been our scholarship fund. The OSU GLBT Alumni Society’s Scholarship program is the largest campus based GLBT scholarship program in the nation. Among the opportunities are scholarships specifically for freshman, students living with HIV and AIDS, music majors, and for service to the GLBT community.

Tax deductible donations to benefit the OSU GLBT Society’s “Scarlet and Gay” scholarship fund may be made online. All donations made to Scarlet and Gay directly benefits scholarships awarded by the Society.

Planned Giving

Tim Herderick (middle) announced a $250,000 planned gift in 2003 for the society. Tim's gift will create additional scholarships for GLBT Alumni Society. Pictured with Tim is OSU Provost Ed Ray (left) and Society Scholarship Chair Jack Miner.

The University offers planned giving as an option for gifts to the GLBT Alumni Society. Planned giving allows you to remember the society in your will or life insurance policy.

While no money leaves your wallet today, based on the size of your gift, you may immediately receive donor benefits such as membership in the President's Club and the opportunity to purchase season football tickets.
You may choose how to dedicate your planned gift. We currently have commitments for various new scholarships, but are also interested in pursuing gifts for an endowed chair in sexuality studies, naming opportunities for buildings and facilities, and other university initiatives.
For additional information on Planned Giving, please contact Jack Miner, President, at .
